Kim
One Moment In Time - Whitney Houston
Kim had a lovely tone and obviously knew the song thoroughly and had clearly well rehearsed. She had a lovely tone and the pitch was just right for her. However, she could have showed more emotion through her face and moved more as she stood very still which is due to nerves. She also could have had more dynamics. If Kim could only get over her nerves her performance could be phenomenal.
(Re-done)
This time around I could tell Kim was still nervous, however, she did get really into the song half way through which made the performance so much better than the last one. She had a lot of expression this time having more confident to just go for it. Kim has a lovely tone to her voice and her support seemed to be much better.
Eva
Don't Rain On My Parade - Barbara Streisand
Eva had excellent support for this song as there was a lot of dynamics and long notes to hold. She had a lot of energy and good facial expression. She could have moved around more but i think she has improved a lot. Her diction was also very good. She did however lose her breathe at some points but that can easily be worked on.
(Re-Done)
Eva's performance was miles better than the last one. Very impressed with how confident she came across and her actions made her performance come alive and made the performance much more enjoyable. She Had much better support for holding notes and belting out notes. She looked like she was also really letting go during singing this and she looked like she was having fun.
Maria
Funny Valentine
Maria had a lot of expression on her face during her performance and engaged with her accompanist Chris on piano and the audience. She had good support for holding onto notes and had nice high notes.
Rosella
I Put A Spell On You
This was an outstanding performance from Rosella and she had a very different sound compared to the original having made it an acoustic version which id never heard anything like before. Her dynamics were very good and she had great diction. She had a lot of expression in her face and also used her hands for expression. This performance gave me chills and i thoroughly enjoyed Rosella's version.
(Re-done)
This time around, Rosella sang with a backing track which made the performance give of a completely different vibe but still AMAZING. Rosella had good improvisation with the song and engaged with the lyrics and audience. She also really gets into the song and shows expression through her face and body language.
Me
Hey Big Spender - Shirley Bassey
This was a challenging piece for me as it was a 'loud' and 'belty' song which i am not used to in the slightest. I practiced an awful lot to try get the feel for the song and i also had actions. The problem was i wasn't good at the projection of my voice or facial expressions. I wasn't that nervous before i went on which means i have improved on my nerves and confidence as i used to build my nerves up before i went on which wasn't healthy or making my song sung any better. I was also scared of the main part 'Hey Big Spender' parts which you could notice as i would shy away from them when they were coming up. Luckily, we get to go back and re do our piece which means i can work on the parts i wasn't so good at.
(Re-Done)
I didn't feel as nervous performing as much as i did last time around. I got told that i had improved a great deal and that i looked a lot more comfortable on stage. I wanted to get more into the song and i think i just told myself to go for it. I shyed away from the belty parts last time but i tried my hardest to go for them this time. I did get told that i cut the phrases short but i think that's only because i'm very uncomfortable belting out.
Amy
Adelaides Lament - Guys & Dolls (movie)
Amy's performance was really enjoyable and she really came out her shell as there was a lot of actions involved. Amy also engaged with the lyrics and audience which i haven't really seen her do before. She had also clearly well rehearsed the song. The only thing she really needs to work on is her mic technique but apart from that i think she done really well.
Kerris
I close my eyes and count to ten
Kerris had a lovely tone and reached the higher notes perfectly because the song was a good choice for her range. It was also a really lovely song and you could hear a slight Adele coming through (Kerris's favorite). She didn't have much facial expressions but expressed through her hands. She also looked confident as she was engaging with the audience. There could have been more dynamics, being louder at certain ooints to give more impact.
(Re-done)
This time around Kerris had much better support with being able to hold notes for longer and she also had better mic technique. Her dynamics were also very good. She had a lot of face expression also.
Natalie
Evanescence - Bring me to life
Natalie was accompanied by a band and had rehearsed well with them. I thought this was a great song choice for Natalie as it showed off her strong vocals and use of support for the big parts. However, she didn't look as comfortable performing this piece which made the whole performance lack something.
(Re-done)
This time around Natalie performed with a backing track which meant we could all properly focus on Natalie and not have any distractions. She had obviously well rehearsed beforehand with the backing track and this time around she had a lot more expression and engaged more with the audience.
Theo
Jack Johnson - Monsoon
Theo seemed a little nervous doing this piece but did engage with the audience giving a lot of eye contact. I think he may of been nervous because he usually plays with a guitar which is something people often feel they can hide behind. This song really suited his voice and showed off his range with the song having quite low parts. I thought this was an unusual song choice and i liked the performance overall.
Chris (Piano)
Get Set Boogie
Chris Upton played a piano piece called 'Get set boogie'. I could tell this was quite a challenging piece for Chris as he had a few stops in the middle of playing. It was a very fun and up beat song which is why i think Chris choose it. He carried on to the end not letting his mistakes get in the way which showed he was a strong player.
